KIDS' ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS ABOUND AT
NEW HAMPSHIRE SKI RESORTS
NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH, DECEMBER 2008 - Keeping kids happy, even on a vacation, can be a real challenge -- but it's easy at any of Ski NH's kid-friendly winter resorts. The programs and activities for winter fun at these resorts have plenty of options for kids of all ages - from little tykes to teens. Programs for younger skiers combine personal attention, safety, and instruction along with the opportunity to make new friends on the slope. For older kids and teens, there's the exciting world of halfpipes, terrain parks, snowtoys, night skiing, snowtubing and fun events to enter or watch. At Ski NH resorts, family members can do their own thing, depending on age, ability, and interest, while at the same time building great family memories of being together for winter fun.
Attitash, Bartlett
Adventure Kids is geared for kids ages 7-12 and works on skills from learning to ski and ride to mogul skiing and terrain park riding. Kids ages 4-6 can enjoy Buddy Bear Kids with half and full day programs focusing on fun-filled adventures. Tiny Turns is for children ages 3-5 and introduces them to fun on the snow. Day care is available for kids ages 6 months-6 years old.
Black Mountain, Jackson
The Black Bear Cub daily program is offered for kids ages 4-6 years old. Kids ages 7-12 can enjoy the Black Bear program. Both programs are season-long and held on weekends and holidays. Day care is also available with a 2-hour minimum.
Bretton Woods, Bretton Woods
The Hobbit Ski Program is a daily program for ages 4-12 that places children in groups based on ability and works on improving their skiing and riding in a fun environment. The Babes in the Woods Nursery is available for ages 2 months-5 years. The Family Interchangeable Ticket allows mom and dad to share babysitting duties and take turns hitting the slopes.
Cannon Mountain, Franconia Notch
Mountain Explorers is a daily instructional program for kids ages 8-12, available for half-day or full-day. Cannon Kids is a daily instructional program for kids ages 4-7. Children are grouped according to ability, with lunch and snacks provided. The season-long Junior Development program is for kids 4-12, kids ski with the same instructor on weekends and vacation days the entire season.
Cranmore, North Conway
Seasonal Programs are available for all ages and abilities. Children ages 4-12 can develop basic skills in the Rattlesnake Program. The Rattlesnake Snowboard Program is for kids ages 8-14 who enjoy snowboarding. The Snowboard Switch Program allows kids ages 8-12 to ski on Saturdays and snowboard on Sundays. The Pre-Race Program is for ages 7-14, concentrating on fundamentals of racing in a non-competitive environment. The Teen Adventure Program is geared towards ages 11-14 and covers a variety of sliding experiences. The Intro to Freestyle Program is for ages 8-14 and works on terrain park ability.
Crotched Mountain, Bennington
Kids' Snow Camp for kids ages 4-12 includes all day supervision, lessons and lunch and is available on weekends and holidays. Crotched Cruisers is held every week on Saturdays and is geared for kids ages 9-14 who want to explore all types of terrain.
Granite Gorge, Keene
Day, afternoon and evening Winter Youth programs are available each Wednesday-Friday. The area also offers six-week programs for children in grades 1-12. Classes are grouped by ability.
Great Glen Trails, Pinkham Notch
Daily lessons are offered for kids, which emphasize having fun while learning. A special ski camp called Penguins (ages 6-8) and Polar Bears (ages 9-11) will be offered this winter during the December and February vacation weeks. The three-day session includes rental equipment and features games and scavenger hunts to improve skiing ability.
Gunstock, Gilford
All kids programs at Gunstock begin at the Base Camp. Camp 1 - Elevation 3,000ft is for kids age 3 and is an introduction to skiing. Camp 2 - Elevation 4,000-5,000ft is for ages 4-5 and has kids on snow for the morning and in daycare for the afternoon. Camp 3 - Elevation 4,000-7,000ft is for kids ages 4-7 of all abilities and is offered as a full or half-day package. Camp 4 - Elevation 8,000-13,000ft is for ages 8-13 with groups formed according to ability level and is offered in full or half-day packages.
King Pine, East Madison
Knee-Hi School is a fun daily and seasonal on-snow group for ages 4-7 and all ability levels. Team Ski and Ride is a full season program focusing on specialized disciplines of skiing and riding for ages 6-12. Ski & Snowboard Campis geared for boys and girls ages 8-16 and is held during February school vacation week, February 16-22.
Loon Mountain, Lincoln
P.K. Boo Bear Camp is run out of the daycare center with up to two hours of lessons for new skiers. The program is for 3 year olds only. Kinder Bear Camp includes lessons, hot chocolate breaks, and snacks, for ages 4-6 and all abilities. Discovery Camp is designed for beginner through intermediate skiers and riders ages 7-12. Freestyle Progression Camp is a full-day program offered on weekends and holidays for skiers and riders 13 years and older who want to optimize their park and pipe experience. Peak Achievers is for ages 13-17 year olds who are beginner through intermediate skiers and riders. Skiers and riders should be at least low intermediates to participate.
McIntyre, Manchester
The Mom/Tot Program is designed to teach 3 year olds to ski with the assistance of a parent. Parents do not use ski equipment, but work with an instructor to teach their child. Little Mac's is a 5-week program geared towards 4-6 year olds with 4-6 children in each class.
Mount Sunapee, Newbury
Mountain Explorers is designed for 8-12 year olds and is offered as a half-day or full-day program; it includes a lesson, equipment rentals and lift ticket. The Snowstars Program is designed for 4-7 year olds and is also offered as a half-day or full-day program; it includes a lesson, equipment rentals and lift ticket. Mountain Edgers is a seasonal program for frequent skiers and snowboarders ages 8-12. The focus is on improving skills in a fun, group setting. The Tag-A-Long Program allows a parent to join a private lesson for their 3-4 year old and learn the methods of teaching that instructors use in order to be able to reinforce the methods during future ski days.
Pats Peak, Henniker
Peanuts is a seasonal program for self sufficient skiers ages 3-5 who are comfortable on beginner terrain. Mountaineers is a seasonal program for intermediate skiers or riders ages 6-9 who are able to ride lifts. Jason Wilkie is a seasonal program for advanced intermediate skiers or riders who are ages 10-14. Cub's Club is for ages 3-5 with nursery care, outdoor play and an introduction to skiing; it's available on weekends and holidays only. Bear's Club is for ages 6+ including skiing and lunch; it's also available on weekends and holidays only.
Ragged Mountain, Danbury
Ragged Rangers is geared for beginners and intermediates ages 4-6. Rookie Rippers is for first timers ages 7-12 who want to learn skiing or snowboarding. Ragged Rippers is for kids ages 7-12 with some experience and is geared towards meeting new friends and having fun on the mountain. All programs are offered as full or half-day packages.
Waterville Valley, Waterville Valley
Kids Venture Kamps are day groups for all ability levels, which include lessons, rental equipment (if needed) and lunch. Mogul Mites is for 3 year olds, Explorers isfor ages 4-6 and Mountain Scouts for Skiers and Snowboarders isfor ages 7-12. Junior Seasonal Programs are designed for kids ages 4-16, spanning 15 weekends plus two holiday weeks. Different programs are geared towards specific ages or ability levels.
Wildcat Mountain, Pinkham Notch
The Lion's Den program is available for half day and full day sessions for children ages 4 - 12 for skiing, and ages 8 - 12 for snowboarding. Lion's Den programs include lift ticket, lunch, rentals & lesson. Kindercubs is for ages 3-4 and is designed as a comfortable and fun introduction to skiing and is also offered as half day or full day sessions.
