SKI NEW HAMPSHIRE SUMMITS PROVIDE MAJESTIC VIEWS

Everyone should have a mountaintop experience every now and then.  From the summits of New Hampshire's mountains, the whole world seems to be in view, or at least glimpses of Canada, Vermont, Maine and Massachusetts.  This special world of mountaintop vistas is also home to unique vegetation and wildlife that greet visitors with sights, sounds, and fragrances found nowhere else.  There was a time when the special beauty and thrill of a mountaintop was reserved only for those dedicated hikers who had the strength and time to climb step-by-step to the mountain summits.  But now, thanks to mountain resort technology, anyone can become part of the mountaintop world by taking a Ski NH resort summit ride to its peak to enjoy some of the most breathtaking views in New England.

Attitash
- Bartlett, NH

Visitors can travel to the summit of Attitash Peak on the resort's Scenic Sky Ride.  The Scenic Sky Ride is a one-hour, round trip tour to the summit of Attitash.  At the top, the 30-foot White Mountain Observation Tower offers a 360-degree view of the surrounding White Mountains and the Mount Washington Valley.  An adult round trip ride is $15.  Attitash also offers a Value Ticket for $35 ($15 for a child), which includes one day's unlimited use of the scenic chairlift ride and the resort's alpine slide, EuroBungy trampoline, waterslides, Buddy Bear's Playpool for children, mountain bike trails and lift-serviced mountain biking.

Cannon Mountain - Franconia Notch, NH

The world-famous 80-passenger enclosed Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway with its signature tram cars climbs 2,146 vertical feet to Cannon's 4,180' summit, offering magnificent views of the White Mountains and beyond.  The narrated trip takes less than ten minutes each way.  At the top, visitors can explore the summit, which offers nature trails, an observation deck, a cafeteria and some of the most dramatic mountain views in the East.  Tram rides cost $12 for adults, and $9 for juniors.

Gunstock - Gilford, NH

Gunstock operates scenic lift rides in conjunction with select special events at the area.  Once at the summit guests can enjoy views of New Hampshire's Lakes Region.

Loon Mountain - Lincoln, NH

Hikers, mountain bikers and sightseers can ride the enclosed four-passenger gondola skyride to the 3,000' summit of Loon Mountain.  Once there, guests can explore glacial caves, learn about the environment on the self-guided summit nature walk amid spectacular mountain wildflowers, climb the observation tower for majestic views, use a treasure map to search for a hidden pot of gold, or grab a bite to eat at the Summit Cafe.  An all-day gondola pass costs $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and $9 for juniors; kids five years and younger ride free.

Mount Sunapee - Newbury, NH

On selected weekends and during the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen's Fair in August, visitors can ride Mount Sunapee's Summit Chairlift.  From the top, riders can enjoy views of Lake Sunapee and surrounding New Hampshire and Vermont mountains.

Mount Washington Resort - Bretton Woods, NH

Chairlift rides are offered, as conditions permit, from June 21 through early October 2008. Typical hours of operation are from 10AM until 4PM (subject to change). Lift tickets are available in the Adventure Center in the Bretton Woods Base Lodge and range from single round trip, half-day, and full day.  Guests can also have lunch at the Top o' Quad Restaurant.

Waterville Valley - Waterville Valley, NH

During the summer months Waterville Valley runs a double chair to the top of Snow's Mountain, which is located next to the tennis center in Waterville Valley.  Once at the top guests can enjoy views of the valley, go for a hike, or hop on their mountain bikes and ride to the bottom.

Wildcat Mountain - Pinkham Notch, NH

Visitors can ride New Hampshire's highest four-passenger gondola skyride, the Wildcat Express, to Wildcat's 4,062' summit.  In just twelve minutes they can enjoy mountaintop views of Mt. Washington, Tuckerman Ravine, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Canadian woods from the Summit Observation Deck.  Rides are $15 for adults and $7 for juniors; kids five years and younger ride free.
