SKI NEW HAMPSHIRE RESORTS OFFER A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES FOR NON-SKIERS
NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH, DECEMBER 2008 - Not everyone who visits New Hampshire ski resorts enjoys the rush of zipping down the hill on skis or a snowboard. For these people a variety of other activities are offered.
Bretton Woods, Bretton Woods
· A dog sled ride at Bretton Woods allows you to cruise through the woods behind a team of dogs. Rides are generally available Thursday-Sunday. Sleigh rides are available at the Mount Washington Hotel. New for this winter are Canopy Tours which descend 1,000 ft via hiking trails, suspension bridges and zip-lines.
Cranmore, North Conway
· Guests looking for a different dining experience can enjoy dinner at the summit of Cranmore at the Meister Hut. The dinners, available by advance registration only, will be offered once a month and include white linens, firelight, gourmet food and wine all with views of North Conway.
· Cranmore is home to Cranapalooza on Saturday nights from late December through mid-March, as well as Wednesdays during holiday weeks. Guests enjoy live music, entertainers such as magicians and puppets, fireworks, face painting, smores at the fire pit, tubing, skiing and riding, and more.
· The Indoor Fun Zone is open on Saturdays and holiday periods and offers an inflatable obstacle course, oversized bouncy house, pickup sports games, and board games.
Great Glen Trails, Pinkham Notch
· The SnowCoach allows guests to ascend halfway up the Mt. Washington Auto Road during the winter months.
· Great Glen Trails is home to a 25 ft. indoor climbing wall that allows for exercise regardless of the weather and conditions outside. It is ideal for beginners and experts alike.
King Pine, East Madison
· King Pine offers ice skating on an illuminated, zamboni-groomed Tohko Dome ice rink. Ice skates are available to rent at the King Pine Rental Shop. Guided snowshoe tours are available every Saturday at 2pm.
Loon Mountain, Lincoln
· Loon has an outdoor ice skating rink open every day of the winter season, weather permitting. Skate rentals are available. An indoor climbing wall offers four routes of varying difficulty.
Pats Peak, Henniker
· The Forest Discovery Trail offers a snowshoe tour through the woods. The trail is one mile long with signs along the way identifying 11 different types of trees.
· Guests can visit Town Square for a horse-drawn sleigh ride. The sleigh is pulled by a pair of Percheron draft horses for 45 minutes, travelling along the foothills of the valley.
· There is indoor ice skating located in Waterville Valley Town Square.
Wildcat Mountain, Pinkham Notch
· New this winter guests will find the east coast's longest 4-season ZipRider zip line cable ride. Guests soar for a half mile over tree tops, ski trails and a river on a zip-line cable at 45 miles per hour.
Shopping - North Conway and Tilton
· New Hampshire is known for its tax-free shopping. It also has two well known shopping outlet regions that are located ideally for skiers, riders and their families and friends. The Tilton shopping area including Tangers Outlets is located directly off I-93 at exit 20 as you head to or from your favorite ski areas. The town of North Conway is filled with a variety of outlet centers and stores and is in the heart of New Hampshire ski country.
