A SUMMER OF SPECTACULAR SPECIAL EVENTS
AT SKI NEW HAMPSHIRE RESORTS
NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH, MAY 2008 - From May until the snow flies again in November, Ski NH mountain resorts offer a spectacular line-up of special events for the entire family - from antique car shows and craft fairs, to golf tournaments, food festivals, bike races, fishing derbies, dance instruction, music festivals, and more. From sports fanatic to fine arts lover, there is something to entertain everyone, and it all happens amid some of the most beautiful scenery New Hampshire's lakes and mountains have to offer. Here is a selection of what guests have to look forward to this summer:
MAY
May 15-July 3 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: Salomon and Smartwool Spring Trail Running Series - A weekly trail running race series for all abilities and ages. Held every Thursday afternoon/evening for eight weeks.
May 17 MOUNT SUNAPEE: Lake Sunapee Bike Race - Longest running bike race in New England. Sanctioned by USCF.
May 23 GUNSTOCK: 2008 Laconia Nationals - Annual car show with hot rods, custom and muscle cars.
May 24 CRANMORE: Seacoast Wind Ensemble - Enjoy live music in the 10th Mountain Pavilion.
May 25 WATERVILLE VALLEY: 10th Annual Chili Challenge - Area restaurants compete for the title of the best chili around. Attendees pay a small fee and can sample the chili. A concert will also be held from noon-3pm.
May 30 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: Awesome Amphibians - Investigate wet meadows, swamps, and ponds to see frogs, toads, spring peepers and more.
May 31-June1 PATS PEAK: 7th Annual Mt. Bike Festival - The weekend will feature 24-hour, 12-hour, and 6-hour races. Also X-Country Challenge and Downhill Thrill events will be held. Over $4,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded.
JUNE
June 9 GUNSTOCK: Porcfest- Porcupine Freedom Festival - Enjoy concerts, food vendors, exhibitors, speakers, tours, hikes, bonfires and more.
June 14 GUNSTOCK: 2nd Annual Flipfest - Motorcycle festival with freestyle motocross, pitbike FMX, streetbike stunts, 4x4 rock crawl competition, and junkyard motocross.
June 18 GUNSTOCK: 16th Annual Motorcycle Hillclimb - Enjoy a hillclimb and the biggest party of Laconia Bike Week.
June 20 CRANMORE: Summer Solstice Biker's Ball - Enjoy a live band, BBQ and outdoor beer garden.
June 28 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: "There's a Black Fly in My Eye" 15k Trail Running Race and Relay - Racers run over single track and carriage roads in solo and relay classes.
June 28 LOON MOUNTAIN: Minis On Top - Mini Cooper owners gather at Loon to raise money for Rosie's Place; a Boston area women's shelter.
June 29 MOUNT SUNAPEE: Sunapee Lions Club Collectible Car Show - 300 Classic and antique cars and trucks will be on display.
June 29 MOUNT SUNAPEE: Aerial Sky Ride - Ride the Sunapee Express Chair to the summit for a spectacular view.
JULY
July 4 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks - Float building, free outdoor concerts, hometown parade, topped off with fireworks.
July 5 LOON MOUNTAIN: Hot Dog Festival - Live music, hot dogs and fun games for families.
July 6 LOON MOUNTAIN: XTERRA Trail Run New England - Competitors race 6.2 miles to the summit of Loon Mt.
July 8-August 26 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: Importech Summer Mountain Bike Series - Weekly mountain bike race series held every Tuesday afternoon over an 8-week period.
July 12 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: Newton's Revenge - Bikers climb up the Mount Washington Auto Road raising money for the Mt. Washington Observatory and other non-profits.
July 12 GUNSTOCK: 84th Annual Miss WinnepesaukePageant - Oldest continuously running pageant in the Miss America System.
July 18 GUNSTOCK: 1st Annual Lakeside Living Expo - Celebration of cottages, Adirondack décor, and outdoor adventure.
July 19 WATERVILLE VALLEY: 3rd Annual Bluegrass Festival - Festival starting at noon, rain or shine with bluegrass bands, kid's activities, barnyard animals petting area, face painting and barbeque.
July 26-27 MOUNT SUNAPEE: Aerial Sky Ride - Ride the Sunapee Express Chair to the summit for a spectacular view.

August 2-3 ATTITASH: Sobe Energy Downhill Race Series - Part of a series of downhill mountain bike races held in New England.
August 2-10 MOUNT SUNAPEE: Aerial Sky Ride - Ride the Sunapee Express Chair to the summit for a spectacular view.
August 2-10 MOUNT SUNAPEE: 75th Annual League of NH Craftmen's Fair - Over 200 booths of juried artists. Guests can enjoy demonstrations, workshops, exhibitions, and performances.
August 9-10 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: 13th Annual 24 Hours of Great Glen - A 24-hour mountain bike race with a variety of festivities.
August 9 WATERVILLE VALLEY: The Curious George Cottage Family Festival - Features a Curious George Character lunch, fun family activities, nature walks and hikes, children's games, curious George movie viewing, and astronomy and star gazing.
August 16 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: The 36th Annual Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb - Some of the top bicycle racers from around the world climb 7.4 miles to the summit of Mt. Washington.
August 16-17 ATTITASH: Bash at Attitash - Mountain bike festival with product demos, clinics, and performance demonstrations by local and pro riders.
August 22-24 CRANMORE: Bach Festival - 20th annual Bach festival concerts.
August 30-31 LOON MOUNTAIN: Labor Day Weekend Family Festival - Live entertainment and family activities.
August 31 WATERVILLE VALLEY: End of Summer Bash & Fireworks - Free outdoor concerts, kids games, charity duck race, and fireworks.
