HIT THE LINKS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE'S MOUNTAINS
NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH, MAY 2008 - Through the years, golf has become the summer sport of choice for many skiers and outdoor enthusiasts. Golf courses at New Hampshire's alpine and cross country ski areas range from some of the oldest in the country to newly built championship courses. Enjoy hitting the links at some of these most scenic areas of New England:
The Balsams Grand Resort - Dixville Notch, NH
The BALSAMS Grand Resort Hotel was awarded Golf Magazine's
silver medal for excellence; it is the only resort to receive this
designation in New England and only one of four in the northeastern
United States. The BALSAMS combines striking scenery and posh elegance
with the challenging Donald Ross-designed par 72 Panorama Golf Course,
with mountain views stretching from New Hampshire to Vermont and
Canada. An executive, nine hole, par 32 course is perfect for a quick
warm-up round or a just-right challenge for beginners and high
handicappers. There are golf shops and PGA professional staff at each
course location as well as seasonal golf schools, individual
instruction throughout the summer, cart and club rentals, practice
greens, and a magnificent full-service clubhouse.
Mount Washington Resort - Bretton Woods, NH
Mount Washington Resort features two golf courses. The signature Mount Washington Course is an 18-hole, par 71, Donald Ross design. This course will reopen for play on Aug. 1, 2008, after refurbishment based on the orginal Donald Ross design of 1915, by renowned golf architect Brian Silva. Currently, the 9-hole, par 35, Mount Pleasant Course is open for play. This championship golf course ensures golfers are challenged by the course's layouts, while taking in the beauty of the Presidential Range rising beyond the fairways. Guests can enjoy the finest in amenities, including the recently built Golf Club with the Tree Top Golf Shop and The Grille, for casual indoor-outdoor dining and refreshments.
Mountain View Grand Hotel - Whitefield, NH
The Mountain View Grand Hotel is home to a majestic 9-hole golf course, offering impressive views of three mountain ranges and 57 peaks.
Ragged Mountain Golf Course - Danbury, NH
Ragged Mountain boasts an 18-hole, par 72 golf course with rolling fairways, elevated tees, and undulating greens. Enhanced by the spectacular scenery of the White Mountains, the course has been called a "Mountain Masterpiece". The course has quickly become recognized as one of New England's most challenging. Golfers rise to the challenge of the variety of shots offered by this course, as well as its rustic New England flavor with untouched stone walls, barn foundations and more than 40 bridges.
Waterville Valley - Waterville Valley, NH
Waterville Valley's course is situated in the center of the valley offering majestic views of the surrounding mountain ranges. The course is 9-hole, par 32, with a pro shop, club and cart rentals, snack shop and lounge.
