NEW HAMPSHIRE SKI AREAS UNITE TO GET
NEW SKIERS AND SNOWBOARDERS ON SNOW IN JANUARY

NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH, DECEMBER 2008 - The 2008-09 ski season is off to a great start in New Hampshire, with a series of recent snowstorms setting the stage for another fun winter on snow.  For those who haven't tried skiing and snowboarding, the first visit can be intimidating.  For this reason, Ski NH resorts, along with resorts across the country, have come together to offer Learn a Snow Sport Month.

During the month of January many NH ski areas will offer special free or discounted learning packages for children and adults who want to learn an outdoor activity.  Most learn to ski, snowboard or cross country ski packages include lift ticket or trail pass, rental equipment and a lesson from a professional instructor.  The goal of this month-long promotion is to break down some of the barriers of participation and enable people to learn from a qualified professional at a reasonable cost.  A complete listing of these promotional offers can be found by visiting SkiNH.com and clicking on "Learn to Ski and Snowboard".

For those looking to try cross country skiing or snowshoeing, there is also Winter Trails Day on January 10, 2009.  That day guests who complete a form found at wintertrails.org and bring it with them to Bretton Woods, Great Glen Trails, Pine Hill Ski Club (Jan. 11), or King Pine will receive a discount or free XC sking or snowshoeing.

These promotions are based on Learn to Ski/Snowboard packages that are already offered daily at all Ski NH resorts.  These programs put an emphasis on an enjoyable learning experience and helping the new skier or rider get used to the basics of the sport.   They also provide a lift ticket/trail pass, rental equipment and lesson from a professional instructor.  As an added incentive, many programs include a reward upon completion to help skiers and snowboarders enjoy their new sport as often as possible.

"Many people never get to enjoy skiing or snowboarding simply because they are nervous about the first visit.  We hope programs like these help to remove that barrier as well as any concerns with the cost of snowsports," stated Alice Pearce, Ski NH's President.

Complete details on all of these programs as well as general information for anyone considering skiing or riding in New Hampshire can be found by visiting the Ski NH website at SkiNH.com or calling (800) 88-SKI-NH (800-887-5464).
