Navigating the "New Norm" at Great Glen Trails
Summer is just around the bend. You may be asking yourself, What CAN I do to enjoy the outdoors? What is open? And will I be safe?
I get it. Because I’ve asked myself the same question a million times. Outdoor Centers are the place to be. Not only can you enjoy the fresh air, safely social distance, but you can regain that sense of “normal.”
I for one, am a huge fan of Great Glen Trails, because they offer A LOT of options. With over 28 miles of trails at the base of beautiful Mt. Washington, open for biking, running and walking, they also offer Guided Kayak Trips. From wildlife, easy peasy trips down the lazy Androscoggin River to heart-racing white water trips. (With proper instruction- of course!)
And something very cool- with the “new norm”- Great Glen Trails has turned their Spring Salomon Trail Series into a virtual playground. Sign up, for FREE, and track your progress. Each week they are even sending out updates to all participants. It’s Your Terrain, Your Speed, Your Distance, Your Location. And it’s AWESOME!
Great Glen Trails has taken enormous steps to ensure safety is paramount. With their curbside bike rentals to their rigorous cleaning of all kayak gear, rest assured you know you will have a carefree good time. They have hand sanitizing stations through-out their base lodge, installed Plexiglas at all transactional stations, dedicated employees to the constant sanitation and cleansing of the base lodge, and all employees have been trained in the latest State of NH requirements for PPE and guest safety.
And- you cannot beat the scenery! Take an invigorating mountain bike ride through their carefully crafted single track trails, or rent a comfort bike and have a lazy day pedaling your way into the Gulf on their meticulously maintained carriage roads. Stop at the Great Angel Cabin, have lunch (BYO) and take in the majestic Northern Presidential Range.
After you're done, take a drive up the historical and famous Mt. Washington Auto Road. Great Glen Trails is a place my family - and yours - can spend the entire day, safely, have a super fun time, and take in the fresh air.
So- if you’re looking for an “out”- Visit Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center. There’s something for everyone…and you’ll be glad you did. Opening June 6th, 2020.
