Whaleback Mountain hosts the Upper Valley’s most popular Adult Ski Race League under the lights on Thursday nights with a head to head dual Slalom! Whether you are a returning racer, just getting into racing or an ex-olympian, this is the race league for you. Teams of four people will race each week (one team member must be of the opposite sex). If a member of your team is unable to make it, a substitute may be used. This is a head-to-head race, with teams racing side-by-side each week. Teams have the opportunity to accumulate a maximum of 8 points per night. Prizes are awarded weekly thanks to our sponsors.

6th annual Franconia Ski Patrol fundraiser.

Whaleback is excited to bring back our Tuesday Night Uphill Race League with some new options! New this year: A casual group tour! You can now opt to join the timed race league or join the group tour for a casual night of meeting new people that are into this wonderful sport. Group Tour: Each week will feature a new suggested route which will range from beginner to intermediate skill level. You will join new friends as you get some exercise and enjoy Alpine Touring together. Skimo Race: This multi-lap, multi-transition weekly race league is a total blast! Each week will feature a new route with multiple transitions and challenges. Racers are encouraged to do as many laps as possible. All racers must have skins on skis, spilt boards or drift boards. No boots or snowshoes allowed. This 5 week series will begin on January 17th, 2023 at 6:30pm and continue weekly on 1/24/23, 1/31/23, 2/7/23, 2/14/23.

The Vertical Challenge is a series of free, casual ski and snowboard races held at the best ski resorts throughout the Northeast each winter season. In addition to the races, attendees enjoy a festival atmosphere, featuring fun snowy activities for all ages and special giveaways. Our secret ingredient? Our crew has as much fun at the events as you do. We make it a priority to create an environment where EVERY participant and family member is welcomed, accepted, and supported. Teams from all over the Northeast sculpt throughout the weekend, finishing by noon on Sunday January 29th, 2023. See first hand how our sculptors take 8' high by 4' round cylinder of compacted snow and create incredible art frozen in time. Free and open to the public to view sculptures.

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! With the potential of 4,618 vertical feet of skiing from top to bottom (of the road), this event is a pretty big deal! So whether you’re a newcomer to the uphill or a seasoned skimo veteran, this race is for you!
