Cross-country skiing, also known as Nordic skiing, is a great way to get into winter sports. Already an alpine skier? Why not try cross-country too? It's a different way to get out and enjoy winter, and will allow you to take time to really soak in the natural beauty of the ski area.

Nordic skiing is easy to learn. You can work with an instructor for a day or even a half-day and you'll have the basics down. It's also very affordable, with adult day trail passes often less than $20 (or even less than $10!). And it's a healthy sport too that will keep you in shape. Cross-country skiing uses all the muscle groups, and skiers can burn anywhere from 200-800+ calories during an hour of skiing!

Check out a Nordic ski area near you to find out more about their instruction programs, or take a special trip to one of the many beautiful cross-country ski areas in New Hampshire.
