Ski NH’s Annual Low Voltage Seminar delivers top-notch training and development for lift mechanics. Participants dive deep into the essential aspects of maintaining and repairing chairlifts with a focus on lift electrical and electronic components. Training is hands-on at ski area lifts and in control rooms with some limited classroom time where required. Course options will include: Basic Electrical Theory, Safety & Schematic Overview; Intro to Ski Lift Electrical; Intro to PLC, Detachable Comm Line/Comm Line Boot Summer Maintenance; Detach Systems, Anti-Collision & Spacing; Electrical Components - "Things That Break"; Battery Maintenance, Electrical Shock Safety, Hydraulic Switches, Meter Troubleshooting & Device Intro/Testing; Tower Safety Circuits; Detach Lifts Schematic Print Reading & Debugging; Build and Debug a Latch Circuit; Drives/Motors Theory; and Drive & Motor Applications. Whether staff are new to lift operations or are seasoned mechanics, our seminar has educational opportunities for all. New this year is the development of tracks that will have Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 designations! Once enrolled, participants will be invited to choose courses according to their interests and abilities. Certificates of completion will be awarded to all participants who complete the program.
A Snowmakers Seminar will also be held concurrently at Loon and provide a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip participants with important snowmaking skills. The program will include classes in basic electrical theory, meters, safety, schematics, pumphouse controls, and troubleshooting problems; a tour of Loon Mountain Resort's snowmaking system; and more.
