New Hampshire loves kids! Our members boast some wonderful kids programs, with lessons available for children as young as three available at many areas. Programs are catered to children's ages and abilities, and range from half- or full-day programs to season-long programs.

Kids' Black Sheep Seasonal Program

Skier & Rider Development (ages 7 to 17) **

Enhance skills and gain the confidence that will last a lifetime, covering: Moguls, Glades, Trees, Skinning, Back Country, SOLO Wilderness First Aid (WFA), Mountain Safety, and Survival Skills. This program is ideal for the skier or rider already proficient in riding a lift and skiing/riding in control.

Little Lambs and Shepherds Program

The Little Lambs and Shepherds is a tot program (ages 3 to 6) that allows the parent(s) or guardian to take an active role in teaching your little one to ski. This is a ten week program that meets Monday mornings

Bretton Woods Trailblazers

Bretton Woods Trailblazers is a seasonal program for young skiers who want to improve their skiing by developing their skills, exploring all types of terrain and to see how far they can take their skiing potential. These skiers will enjoy all the various terrain that Bretton Woods has to offer, challenge their friends on the NASTAR Course as well as free skiing around the mountain with our coaches.

Cannon Mountain

Cannon Mountain’s Junior Development Program is designed for skiers who visit on a regular schedule. The program offers a progression for young skiers looking to develop their skills on all types of terrain and to maximize the recreational experience. The Junior Development program is available for skiers ages 5-12 years old as of Jan 15th, 2022. 

We offer groups for wedge turners through advanced dynamic skiers. Participants must at a minimum be able to link wedge turns on beginner terrain. Our dedicated instructors work diligently to create a fun and safe learning atmosphere that cultivates age appropriate social and athletic growth while providing individualized attention within a structured group format to foster a lifelong love of snowsports. Junior Development Program is based out of the Brookside Learning Center at the Peabody Base Area, exit 34C from I-93.

Great Glen Trails


Sunday afternoons 1:30pm-3:30pm, 1st - 8th Graders

This is a weekly program for kids emphasizing the fun of skiing, making new friends, and learning and improving skills.

Bill Koch League (BKL), is a regional youth ski program named after Bill Koch, the first U.S. Olympic medalist in cross-country skiing.

Ragged Mountain Resort

Ragged Mountain offers an Adventure Camp for kids ages 6-12 (beginner to intermediate level skiers), where participants spend their time in a friendly group environment that makes learning fun. Half and full-day programs include breaks inside the learning center with snacks and hot chocolate provided.

Our Children's Seasonal Programs are for ages 7-14  (intermediate to advanced skiers). All of our programs are 10 weeks long and starts January 8th. Families can choose between half day programs on Saturday or Sunday from 9am-12pm. The last week of the program will include a fun race on Barnyard and pizza party! The Seasonal Program is for Intermediate and advanced skiers that are looking to refine their skills on a variety of terrain while having fun and making new friends.

Waterville Valley Adventure Center

Nordic Kids: This youth program for beginners is designed to share the fun of Nordic skiing with kids ages 5 to 12 by introducing techniques, playing games and having a great time on skis! Cost is $20 per session (includes trail pass, rental, instruction and a cup of hot cocoa).

Waterville Valley Resort

AGES 4-6Kids Venture Kamps are for younger beginners or novice skiers (ages 4-6) who are in need of more basic instruction and are not at the lower intermediate skill level yet. 

AGES 4-16 - Junior Seasonal Programs are designed for kids 4 -16 years old, who already ski or snowboard, starting at the lower intermediate level. We offer different programs geared toward certain age groups and within those groups, we might have different groups based on skill development and intensity level. We offer instruction for fifteen weekends including some days during the Christmas holiday week and February vacation week. 

    • Lil Grit Program is a program for 4–5-year-oldskiers with a focus on mountain safety, developing fundamental skills, and lots of indoor and outdoor fun! 
    • The True Grit Ski program designed for intermediate or above skiers, 6–12 years old with options to telemark. 
      • The True Grit Snowboards program is designed for intermediate or above riders, 6–12- years-old. Snowboard groups focus on honing the skills of being an all-mountain, all-condition rider. 
      • Race Focus is a specialized group for 9 –12yr. old skiers who have an interest in developing fundamental racing skills and drills along with solid, all-mountain skiing. Expect to ski the whole mountain, ski frequent NASTAR runs, do race drills, and learn race tactics. This program includes a NASTAR Season Pass. This group will have a limited number of participants and must meet an ability standard.
        • Our Free Ride Program is a specialized group for 9–15-year-old skiers who want to learn the fundamentals of freestyle along with solid all-mountain skiing. 
        • The Teen Program is designed for teens, 13–16-year-olds, who are able to ski or ride all of Waterville Valley's terrain.

        Whaleback Mountain

        Mountain Explorers- This 5 week program is designed for the beginner through the advanced skier/rider for 7-14 year olds. Learn the basics or progress your skills. Invite your friends and have a blast! This program is a great balance of lesson and supervised free ski/ride time to practice those new skills and have fun with peers. Every Saturday and Sunday for 5 weeks.

        Belugas Whales Program (for 4–6-year-olds) -The Beluga programs are a fun and playful ski or ride program for 4-6 year olds. This non-competitive 5-week program focuses on skill development, promotes safe exploration and progression in the learning area. It encourages a lifelong passion for the outdoors and skiing/riding. We provide an attentive and nurturing learning environment with a 1:4 coach to child ratio.

        Wildcat Mountain

        Your child can create a season full of memories during the Wildcat All Mountain Team is a seasonal development program for children ages 5 to 16 who are looking for a winter full of all-mountain experiences. The variety of terrain at Wildcat offers an amazing opportunity for your children to learn and experience groomers, bumps, glades, gates, and natural snow conditions unrivaled in the East. The Wildcat Seasonal Program Coaches will work together to develop the various teams within the program. Teams are organized by age and ability to ensure that your children have the opportunity to develop friendships in an environment that promotes fun and learning. Ultimately, your children will be equipped to master a variety of terrain and conditions. By the time they finish up they'll be giving Mom & Dad a run for their money on the slopes.
