Tips for Ski Swaps
Ski swaps can be a great way to find quality gear at a lower price, but it helps to know what to look for before you buy. Keep these tips in mind when heading to a ski swap this fall:
Go early. Popular sizes and sought-after gear can go quickly, so arriving early gives you the best selection.
Know what you need. Make a list of the gear you're looking for and know your boot, ski, and clothing sizes before you arrive. This can help you stay focused and find the right fit.
Check the condition. Take a close look at skis, snowboards, boots, and other equipment for signs of excessive wear or damage. If you're unsure about something, ask a ski shop representative or knowledgeable seller.
Don't forget the basics. Ski swaps aren't just for skis and snowboards. You can often find helmets, goggles, poles, outerwear, boots, and other winter accessories too.
Be flexible. A ski swap is a great place to discover gear you may not have considered. For kids, buying used equipment can also make it easier to size up as they grow.
If you're selling, clean it up first. Give your gear a quick clean and make sure everything is together before bringing it to a swap. Check the event's guidelines ahead of time to see what items are accepted and how the seller drop-off or consignment process works.
