On Saturday, March 11, the renowned Tyler Davis Jam Session returns to its original location in Gunstock’s Blundersmoke Terrain Park. This snowboard-only event is open to competitors of all ages. Participants are encouraged to perform their cleanest tricks for fame and glory, and an assortment of prizes. Event organizer and host Tyler Davis is a local snowboarding legend who grew up riding and competing alongside other snowboarding luminaries like Pat Moore, Chas Guldemond, Danny Garrity, and others – honing a talent that brought him to resorts all around the world. As a writer, Davis has contributed to SNOWBOARDER Magazine and Red Bull Snowboarding, among others, and was the Copy Editor at Snowboard Magazine until 2016. Since 2014, he has hosted an annual, old school-style contest at Gunstock that brings together the community of multi-generational snowboarders in New Hampshire and celebrates the East Coast scene at the resort where Davis started riding. When he is not enjoying the snowy slopes, Davis can be found in a Laconia, N.H., classroom where he has been a high school English teacher for over a decade. The registration fee for the Tyler Davis Jam Session is $30 and all proceeds benefit the Chill Foundation, an organization that encourages youth to overcome challenges through boardsports. Discounted event-only lift tickets (if not a season pass holder) are priced at $50. Bib pick-up is scheduled from 8 to 10 a.m. in the foyer of Gunstock’s Historic Main Lodge. A riders’ meeting is slated for 10:45 a.m., followed by a competition start time of 11 a.m. Après will begin in the Pistol Pub after the competition, with an awards ceremony scheduled to start at 3 p.m. More information is available at gunstock.com.
